We had to address your mother-in-law’s neurotic problems tonight. Definitely did not have time or energy to go enjoy a soccer game.

Well… we try not to take it for granted. Procedures always come with risks. I would never say, “oh it’s gonna be fine!” — we can breathe a sigh of relief once it’s done and she’s okay post-op.

… you know, one of the “Age of Attraction” guys was talking about how his Dad had health issues and he was feeling like he couldn’t be in a serious relationship until… his Dad… passed away?

Don’t quote me on that! This is my general recollection of what I watched.

But my point is a part of me relates to that. When I saw that part I felt like, “That was totally me with my Mum.” It’s not like I’m waiting for her to pass to have a serious relationship. But I can empathise with what that guy was talking about.

We’re already in a serious relationship.

I know! So it just happened. You simply just showed up in my life. And all along my mother has had the problems she’s had anyway.

But I can understand where that guy is coming from with what he said.

Perhaps if you didn’t show up back in my life… I would be feeling a similar sense of hopelessness. At least that’s my interpretation of what he was going on about. It’s like a sense of hopelessness. The obligation to family — parents — but a hopelessness about finding one’s own romantic partner.
