Babe… I’m gonna apply for Gucci after work today.
Thought u said u were done with applications?!
Mmm… I thought so too but I just felt this compulsion to have a look on Gucci website and there is a job ad there too!
Oh…
Watching Lee Know rep Gucci makes me feel like Gucci must be another cool brand to work for?
U think so?
Yes if they simply let Lee Know be himself. Lol. Maybe that is more me as well.
First u said LV was so u. Then u said Burberry was very u. Now ur thinking Gucci is more u?!
Mmmm… I relate to them all…
Hahahahah…
Mmmm…
Ur boy Felix has been in the news babe…
I know…
What do u think about it?
I don’t know… my understanding is that he’s now able to find the identity of the user behind the X account posting that stuff…
I think, if he then proceeds and succeeds, it might turn into bigger news because I’m already seeing some confused comments on threads … because Americans think they have “freedom of speech” — so there are nuances to unpack there.
U don’t win a defamation lawsuit in America if the information is true?
That’s my understanding…
If the X user posted it from American soil, that IP address is American — if they have receipts for “treating staff like servants and acting like a prince” — then I don’t think Felix will win?
But if the user is based in another country… it might be different?
I’m adding question marks because I DON’T KNOW FOR SURE. I’M NOT A FUCKING LAWYER.
I am just aware that generally the online activities relate to the country ur based in at the time of the activity?
That’s my understanding? I could be wrong?!
I think the whole point of the pursuit of the case is that there shouldn’t be receipts that’s why it’s being perceived as defamation.
Mmmmm… the person could argue that’s their opinion of him? Based on publicly available media footage.
What footage?!
Wasn’t there an episode where they talked about how he was talking so excitedly about coming back from Paris that the staff didn’t eat their dinner they had to listen to him talk for an hour or something like that?!
If the user was simply posting an opinion of an interpretation of that episode…?
That’s not defamation?
I DON’T. KNOW. I’M NOT A FUCKING LAWYER.
There’s two parts to this.
I think the biggest signal it sends — from a cybersecurity perspective — is that the internet isn’t anonymous.
They can find who posted it.
They got an American judge support to request or well basically now expect X’s cooperation in helping to trace the identity. Possibly not only X. “Telecom” companies?
So the person registered an account on X. And X is an American company. So they got that court order for X to cooperate.
That’s my understanding.
I’m seeing comments not understanding and celebrating a little early…
I don’t think they “got” the user yet?
I think the user could just as simply now, see the news, delete their account and hope they never get found.
Would X not be able to find them if they delete their account?
I’m NOT SURE…
That depends on their data storage and retention policies? 👀
There’s actually a LOT MORE to discuss here — academically? As a case study?
I don’t know how many news outlets would bother going that deep into a dive of this. I’m wondering if any cybersecurity blogs or podcasts are gonna take a look at it…
But perhaps at this stage — it’s not enough of a piece of news.
If he WINS — if he tracks down that user and wins the defamation case — THAT is really big news.
It relates to many celebrities. Not only K-pop idols. And it relates to users globally and the companies they are registering accounts with. That will set a new precedent if he tracks them down and WINS.
It kinda reminds me of Napster in the early days when people were pirating music and then eventually they had to crack down on it and make an example of some users. I forget the details. But there were some pretty extreme cases?! Then people generally stopped pirating music… backed away from using those torrent websites to pirate?
Of course it’s not eradicated completely… but there is a general impact. People these days — mainstream normies — aren’t going to bother pirating.
So Felix is starting something here… whether he wins or not. Perhaps an even bigger celebrity’s lawyer takes his attempts as examples to argue something else in an even bigger case. And perhaps that defamation case wins. Perhaps Felix’s contributions are not in vain in that sense.
U don’t think Felix will win this one?
I’m not sure — even if he wins — does he want to announce that he wins?
Does the company want this kind of attention?
Or will it be a quiet victory after this small step…
Or will the user simply have deleted all their accounts and tried to scrub their online footprints in the meantime… It’s given them time to pause. Rethink their actions.
I see this latest news as a giant WARNING ⚠️
I don’t see this as a successful defamation case — yet.
And if the user has deleted all their accounts. This is another conversation about companies data retention and archival policies in order to cooperate with authorities.
Mmmmmmm… cuddle cuddle cuddles 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
