Babe…?
Yes, my love?
Do you care… about… how you place things in the dishwasher?
Huh?
Are you pedantic about stuff like that?
… no…?
Okay, good.
Why?
Because — Mum and I load the dishwasher differently. She has HER ways. I have MINE.
(Chuckles)…
I will need to teach you MY way when we live together.
Okay, love. (Ready to take notes)…
I don’t have anything to teach you now — we’ll see with the dishwasher we get.
Ahh. Okay… so there’s no instructions for the blog?
No. Just know that I’ll get acquainted with whatever dishwashers we have in the apartment and the big house and then I’ll let you know — what goes where.
I see…. can’t you just start explaining it now? With the dishwasher in your house?
(Sigh).
There is a cutlery basket — is that what it’s called? You know, where you put the forks, spoons, chopsticks…
Uhuh…
You don’t put knives in there.
No?
Not in this model of the dishwasher at my parents’ house, there is a separate compartment for knives in the top level.
Oh, I see… that’s different?
Hmm… is it? Now I’m not sure. But just don’t get lazy and put knives in the other basket because they don’t go there.
Okay.
My mother KNOWS this. Just sometimes she gets lazy and shoves a knife in the basket!
Okay… (Chuckles)…
The cutlery basket has grids, right?
Uhuh…
But the flaps for the grids are removable.
They are?!
In THIS dishwasher model, yes.
Okay…
I like to have it half-half. I like to remove the grids on one side, keep the grids on the other.
Okay…
The grids are for chopsticks.
(Nodding)… makes sense…
You don’t need the grids with spoons and forks.
You don’t?
I don’t think so, I think it just gets in the way!
Okay… (notes)…
The grids are for chopsticks, and teaspoons.
Ahh. I see.
There is no way of ever getting that into my mother’s head. It will ALWAYS be messed up and sometimes she puts both sides on grids and things are just anywhere.
Uhuh…
There is a way that I like to “load” the dishes.
Right…
There is a direction that I like to load the smaller dishes from, and the larger plates from the opposite end.
Uhuh…
You don’t just mix anything anywhere!
There is a LOGIC to how things are LOADED IN.
Right…
It’s really hard to describe…
Keep going… (smiles)…
Small dishes start from one end, and the large plates start from another, so then, it’s like they’re not blocking each other.
And middle dishes?
They start from another side of the rack.
Right…? I’m confused.
There’s like a middle divider in this dishwasher on the bottom level. There’s like four quadrants.
Right…
So you can start from one end of a quadrant…
Okay… (totally confused)…
Mugs are at the top but there’s different heights for mugs and cups as well. I use the really large mugs sometimes, like 500 mL.
Uhuh… what are you drinking?!
Just tea, or coffee, or chai.
In a 500 mL mug?!
Yeah!??! Sometimes?!?!?!
Okay… (chuckles)…
Then there’s the noodle bowls.
Uhuh…
The BIG ones go on the bottom rack. The smaller ones go on the top.
Right… (making notes… big noodle bowls… small noodle bowls)…
When are you eating from a big or small noodle bowl?
If I am adding stuff like veggies and meat to the noodles it needs the big noodle bowl. If I am only eating noodles and not adding anything else it only needs the small noodle bowl.
Right… what about rice bowls?
There is another compartment for them on the top rack.
Okay… (Chuckles)…
What is so funny?
How BIG is your dishwasher?!?!?!!
I don’t know, normal sized?! Does it not sound normal?!?!
It sounds like it has a LOT of compartments?!?!?!!?
It’s okay… it’s not a bad model… but honestly, I wouldn’t mind upgrading for ours in our apartment and big house. We can go look at them together for another date?
Okies!!! ^__^ ❤ ❤ ❤
Sigh…. we used to have the ones that pulled out like a drawer… you know those ones?
Not… really…
Hang on lemme google… I think it was Fisher & Paykel…
Uhuh…
Oh yeah, it was those ones… but a long time ago. I am overwhelmed with their website, we’ll have to go look at them in person.
Okay… (smiles)…
But — and my mother pointed this out for herself too.
If you’re gonna get drawer dishwashers, it’s actually better to get two drawers side by side rather than one on top of the other, does that make sense? Then you don’t have to bend down.
Right…
If it’s possible to fully customize the kitchen so you don’t have to bend down…
Why don’t we just get one drawer? Are you even cooking that much?
No… okay, one drawer for the apartment but two drawers for the big house.
Okay… which ones do you like?
I don’t trust website photos, I have to look at them in person. I’m leaning towards the black glass or black stainless steel.
Okay…
I love you!!! ^__^ ❤ ❤ ❤
I love you too… ^__^ ❤ ❤ ❤
I’m so relieved we’ve had this conversation.
(Chuckles)… xoxoxoxoxoxoxxx
