I feel like it’s a picture about a marriage.

A husband and wife.

He’s gotta go to war.

She hates having to say goodbye.

He wants to come home safely.

She wants that too.

He’s doing this for them.

He’s doing this to protect her and their family.

He puts on that armour when he’s gotta be out in the world, fighting.

She gets to stay in her floral dress, in her domestic realm.

But she’s not “too soft” either. It takes strength to wait for him with faith.

It takes strength to admit she does love him. She’ll wait for him. No matter what, she’s not going anywhere. She’ll be there when he gets back.

He doesn’t know how long his journey will be but he promises as soon as it’s possible, he’ll be right back by her side. Armour off. Back to who he is without that armour.

This is the moment they’re saying goodbye — for now.

He’ll be back, and normally they are enjoying their lives when he’s not wearing that armour…

These days, she has a phone and she can log into the apps to see everything he’s doing in that armour.

It doesn’t look like armour to anyone else but it’s his shield… the illusion the rest of the world celebrates and adores…
