Maybe… since when I was a little girl, like around 8 or 9 years old — when I used to go back to Taiwan for summer holidays and hang out with my older girl cousins… they would’ve been, what? 14? 15? At those times? And THEY had the Japanese fashion/teen girl magazines.
And we would flip through them together.
So I was kind of “brainwashed” into loving Japanese fashion and styling since even that age… I guess?!
I mean, it certainly peaked my interested in fashion in general.
But I also remember looking at the hair and makeup tutorials — yes, there was a lot of absorption — in my little brain at the time — Japanese fashion and styling… it’s very ingrained…
I’m not an expert in any way. But I guess I appreciate it when I see it…

I think it comes back to the words I keep using, “clean” and “crisp” — it’s always clean and crisp compared to other styles… don’t you think?

I think it’s very “clean” and “crisp” — I think they maintain that, even if it is a “messy” or “chaotic” or “punk” look — it’s still CLEAN — and CRISP!!! — It’s a ZEN style towards fashion. They keep things CLEAN and CRISP!!!
