What kind of Chinese harp do you want?
How do I explain… there’s long harps, and short harps. My mother has always played the long harp. So I would want the long harp.
No short harps, long harps.
Yes… and I know there are more cool, modern looking ones these days… but I’m sentimentally attached to the look and feel of more traditional ones…
You want an antique heirloom to pass down for future generations…
Yes!
What colours?
Preferably a darker wood, not the lighter wood… I don’t know why, I just feel like the darker wood can “last longer” — ?
Like a rich mahogany?
I’m not sure if it’s that specific tree used? It might be a Taiwanese or Chinese tree? I’m not sure. But a darker coloured wood… dark brown… varnished, of course. It’s gotta last…
(Nodding)…
You can test and ask about sounds… I’m not sure if there are differences in sounds with various types or classes or harps? Even amongst the long harps?
What kind of sound do you want?
Something that can play traditional music. I don’t need any “modern” twists on these instruments.
I know it’s getting popularised these days to make them look more modern, maybe even change the depth of the hollowed parts — whatever you call it — give it a “flatter” sound for mainstream, popular music?!
You don’t want any of that, you want traditional…
Yes, baby! Let me hold onto the ancient history of it. I don’t need the modernised stuff…
(Nodding) okay, I think I get it…
Thank you, my love ♥️
Anything for you, my baby ♥️
