Skype setup

Do you have Skype now…?

Yes… actually, I’ve always had it… (giggles)

Oh? So it’s the same account?

Technically, yes… but I have changed some settings now.

What settings?

Basically I went through all the settings and cleared out a lot of contacts, and there is quite a lengthy block list as well.

Am I on the block list?!

I don’t think so? Unless you have a really weirdo handle… I don’t think you’re on the block list. I don’t think you’ve ever been added as my Skype contact. It didn’t look like it when I went through all my default contacts.

Now you’ve deleted everyone?

Almost… you can only find me if you are a Mutual Super Best Friend.

(LOL) How many are there?

3… female… Mutual Super Best Friends.

There’s 3 of them…

Actually there could’ve been more but I just… whittled it down to those three.

How would those friends know that it’s you?

They can search for me by the number that they know.

How do you know it’s really them?

It’s definitely them.

And what will they see if they do that?

They might be able to see — there is a secondary number. That number is now verified and will show up if that number is used to make actual calls via Skype.

Anything else?

There are small details on the profile that they should be able to see too. They can see that it’s me, for sure.

Did you add CoPilot into your chats?

Nope.

What other settings?

Just basically turn off most settings… just go through it and sift through a lot of the defaults. Don’t send whatever data for improving the product, etc. We wouldn’t even be using the product enough to be statistically significant with our reports.

I had to update payment settings as well.

You needed to update payment settings?

There’s just a default for a linked payment method, in case you ever need to upgrade your account for other features. I don’t think it’s necessary at the moment for me but who knows — if security feels breached or threatened, then, yeah… maybe…

Anything else?

There seems to be a log of past calls with their caller IDs… I’ve tried to block some, but I couldn’t delete them… they’re just sitting there… blocked… but not deleted…

(Chuckles) Should I be worried about this log?

No… it’s nothing to worry about. Some past business contacts… no big deal.

But they’re now blocked?

Yes — I don’t need them to see my profile all of a sudden.

What’s your status?

Invisible.

Did you turn on read receipts and things like that?

No.

Why not?

I don’t think it’s necessary — it gives me anxiety.

Notifications?

Almost all off… I think I just get a little dot if there is a new message or a missed call.

Do you use this phone often? It has a SIM card?

I can use it often… now?! (Chuckles) Yes… it has a SIM card that I can take it with me when I’m out. But I still, generally, don’t want to take it with me to work or class… I can take it with me when I’m out on casual outings… with friends… or grocery shopping… things like that…

Why don’t you want to take the phone with you to work or class?

Because — if I lose it — it’s not a good idea… It’s more cumbersome…

You don’t fully trust your work or school environment?

(LOL) Maybe not… not for my second phone to be in my bag in those areas…

What about your Microsoft profile?

What about it?

Can people look you up that way?

I don’t think so… unless they’re hackers who’ve found some cheeky pathways… and even then, they’re not going to be able to reach me on Skype.

Why not?

Because… I disabled that setting — if you’re not my Skype contact, you can’t message me. You have to be approved as a contact first.

Contact request to add you first?

Yes.

What if we both have that setting, though?

Then you probably need the QR codes to add each other in person. Just like LINE messenger.
