You didn’t go to drinks with your acquaintance millennial friends?
No…
Why not?
Well… it’s raining… and initially, when I left the house, it didn’t seem to be raining that bad… but as I was driving closer and closer to the bar… the rain just kept getting worse! To the point that I was at the traffic lights just a little bit before the car park that I was planning to go in — but the bar still required walking out of that car park to get to — and I’m looking at the rain starting to blow at like a 45 degrees angle?! The wind was getting stronger and stronger — it was like a typhoon hit the Gold Coast all of a sudden!? And I’m like, freshly showered, hair shampooed, conditioned, blow-dried — I don’t want to get my hair wet in this weather! I don’t want rain on me, even with an umbrella — I don’t feel like fighting nature tonight! So I just said to myself, “Hell nah~~~” and I turned into another street with a little roundabout and I did a U-turn with that and went straight back home!
(Chuckles) There’s so many elements to this story… is it the rain? Is it the hair freshly shampooed? What was it, really!?
It was because the BAR was not within CARPARK ACCESS. If they had picked, for example, a bar within the Hilton Hotel — that’s an easy access carpark to me. I can park my car, go up the elevator and go to the lobby and go to the bar — no need to bring an umbrella, no need to fight the elements. If you’re going to pick a destination for me to PROMISE to get to no matter what — the carpark needs to have DIRECT ACCESS to that venue via an elevator, or even stairs. I’ll compromise with stairs access. But I don’t want to get my hair WET!
Because you just freshly showered…
Yes!
Mmm… I miss our showers…
(Giggles) Yeah, so… nah… I’m not doing that.
Did you message the friends that you’re not going anymore?
No…
Why not?
Well, they haven’t even messaged me to ask why I’m not there?
Oh, I see… so if they don’t bother asking how you are, you’re not going to bother informing them of your change of decisions.
Well… pretty much… I mean, if I see them face to face next time, I’ll explain it. I think the rain and wind is pretty self-explanatory actually. There wasn’t even that many cars on the road. It really started making me question my own decision about being out on the road. Maybe everybody decided to turn back home as well? Maybe there were even weather warnings on the news but I hadn’t watched the news?! But usually my weather app will give a notification if there is severe weather warning so I guess it wasn’t that “severe” but it was still pretty rough!
Okay… so you don’t like unpredictable weather…
No. Not at all. If there’s storms, or even HAIL?! I’m not driving!
I can understand not driving if there’s hail… storms… okay… but tonight was only wind and rain…
Yeah. So if the bar of choice had been somewhere like Hilton Hotel. Or Novotel. Or somewhere in the Renaissance… those are carparks that I can easily access and know how to access.
These are all locations in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast…?
Yes.
Those are your main three places that you know how to go to?
No, I also know how to go to Soul carpark. Or QT Hotel. There’s lots actually, if you just pick a hotel that has a public access guest carpark, I can easily go.
I’ve met some Gold Coast locals — they don’t usually pick a hotel to go hangout…
Well — different groups with different preferences. I don’t like “walking around Surfers” in the wind and rain! And when I’m with Taiwanese friends — it’s easy to pick a hotel to go hangout. I don’t know, we just have often done that in the past…
Okay my darling Princess… I think I can make a note of this and keep it in mind… (smiling)
Thank you. I just don’t want to get my hair wet — unless we’re showering together again.
(So relieved, smiling) That’s what I wanna hear!!!
