It’s okay, dear… I know you’re crying at one of the scenes from Severance S1…
How do you know? We’re not even watching it together in real time — I’m probably going to catch up on reading the blog before I even turn on Apple TV to watch any of it.
Yeah… but I know you… I know one of these scenes is going to make you cry… because I’ve just re-watched it…
What is it about the scene that’s going to make me cry? And didn’t you say that I probably couldn’t relate to this show because I’ve never worked in an office?
The scene is not “in” the office — the scene is something that is revealed when the characters are outside the office… and there’s another scene that’s actually going to make you laugh.
You’re right. Actually I already saw it. Yes, it made me laugh.
Right?! I know you… and I know you think that scene reminds you of me…
(Nodding) It does. It really reminded me of you and it made me laugh out loud…
And then the scene that’s going to make you cry is also going to remind you of me…
I’m sad thinking about it already even if I haven’t even seen it…
And then one day we’re going to be sitting together, on a couch, watching it together — after I’ve paused and explained so much of the show and why some scenes make me laugh — but when we get to that scene — tears will start rolling down your face. I’ll be turning to you, “This scene still makes you cry like this?!”
And then you’ll be nodding, and I’ll be like, “I’m right here!!!” And you’ll be smiling but still crying and then I’ll give you a hug, and maybe some tissues…
Wow… what a triggering scene…
You might even turn to me and be like, “Is your Dad like this?!” And I’ll chuckle and say, “No, he’s NOT… it’s just a TV Show.”
Oh? Your DAD is suddenly in one of the scenes?!
(Chuckles) No…!!! IT’S JUST A TV SHOW!!! (Laughing)
