Well… is there any way to talk about it without talking about it?
Hmmm…
I can tell you from experience. With a previous employer. Rent was increasing. Contracts with the commercial landlords were due to be reviewed.
So it was decided — and this is public knowledge because it really happened — at that workplace, it went from 4 levels of a retail space, to 2 levels. Immediately halving that rent. Sure, there were renovation costs. There were retail/commercial interior designers on the premises, taking photos, measuring walls… getting all their blueprints drawn.
And in the midst of all that, nothing stopped. It was before the Pandemic. It still ran like a well-oiled machine.
So… that’s been my experience in retail.
