Toxic Fans: They take a conspiracy theory and run with it. They post, re-post, and usually they never give any credits to where any of the stories originated. Sometimes they take a meme and act like they created it. They’re happy to copy and paste things, word for word.

Some of them are doing this for monetization.

Others it’s a toxic delulu… I’m not sure why they don’t have regular jobs that keeps them a little more grounded… or how they’re feeding themselves three meals a day… but they exist like this, somehow.

Fans: Normal people. They’ll browse through channels, occasionally go directly to a source to see a documentary about a celebrity or a group. They’ll buy the albums — digitally. They’ll save them to their libraries. They might even download one or two songs, just to keep it as their own. But they’re not buying physical copies. It’s just digital, and it’s fun for them. They’ll have a long list of others they’re also following casually.

They’re not technically part of any “fan groups” — it’s not to that level yet. It’s more casual content appreciator. It’s vibing with the music as it is. They don’t care about your personal lives. They’ve got their own personal lives to worry about. The music reminds them of something they wish they could have said, or that someone said to them. The music reminds them of various moments in their lives, or aspirations, hopes and dreams…

Occasionally — if the dates, budgets and availability of tickets align — they’ll buy those concert tickets. But they’re not camping outside the Ticketek Australia offices to get those tickets. That’s not their vibe.

Super Fans: These are the ones in the fan groups. These are the ones with their Discords and Reddit forums. Usually non-toxic, but the toxic fans infiltrate and spread shit around like weeds.

The Super Fans are just like a big bunch of best friends — having a big party — they have FUN talking about it. They have FUN enjoying the music. They have fun with “some” theories — but usually, they’re level-headed enough to know, it’s just some conspiracy theories. They don’t take it the same way that toxic fans do. They don’t care to.

They want what’s best for their celebrities. They want what’s best for them like a best friend. They do care — they will click on every interview, they will watch every Tik Tok, every Reel — even if it’s the exact same one, repeated. They will take it all in. And share it amongst themselves. They’re having fun, it’s totally harmless.

Mega Fans: As above, just more money set aside for concert tickets, physical albums, limited edition collectors’ items and general merch. Literally. Exactly the same.

Some — maybe — start gaining momentum as content creators with this celebrity as their niche — and get offered real collaborations. To help control the narratives.

Lone Wolf Psychos: The police are aware of them. Toxic fandom to the extreme. The celebrity is usually aware of them, too… and their whole team. So… they keep them at a safe distance — as much as they can.

Usually, this doesn’t happen as much as a celebrity is “winding down” their careers. It’s usually at the height of the fandom.

For some reason… even the lone wolf psychos somehow start maturing and disappear…

Do you sense if I have any Lone Wolf Psychos?

No. I’m not sensing it…

I think… maybe before the Pandemic?

But not since…
