Well… it’s mostly the other way around. The rest of the world thinks you’re pretty… and I’m just a normal Asian lady.

Would you ever want to be the face of Kyle Cosmetics? Kyle Skin?

(Chuckles) I thought you don’t know them?! I thought they were “just as much celebrities to me as they are to you” — ?!

Hypothetically — say I just went on LinkedIn and it turns out — oh wow! I actually have mutual friends with Kylie Jenner! I didn’t even realise! — And then — hypothetically — if I was on the phone to their team. And they happened to mention, “Actually, we’ve been looking for a new face for a niche market… Kylie is busy, she doesn’t want to be her own face all the time…”

(Laughing)… I think… it might be a conflict of interest for my current employer?

(Shocked) It is?!?!?!!? Your employer sells skincare and cosmetics?!

(Nodding) I’m surprised… you don’t know this…?!

(Shaking his head) No. I didn’t know this. REALLY?! I feel like this is something I should’ve known.

Well, you’re a guy… it’s okay if you didn’t notice about other company’s skincare and cosmetics labels… but yes… my employer… well… wouldn’t it be weird? Wouldn’t it be weird to sign onto a campaign for Kyle Skin or Kyle Cosmetics and then the customers at my regular work are like “Is that your face in the Mecca Australia store for Kyle Skin and Kyle Cosmetics?! Doesn’t YOUR COMPANY also sell skincare and cosmetics?!?!”

Oh… (Chuckles) so it is kind of a conflict of interest… never mind… hmm… (Still contemplating something)

What if your employer wanted you to be the face?

I don’t know about “The” face — can I be amongst like, maybe 20 or 30 faces? Why should I have to shoulder being the responsibility of being “The” face?! I don’t want those responsibilities. Also — I’m not even Gen Z. I doubt there would ever be a campaign for me to be “The” face — mature age Asian lady background extra in the middle of a campaign for mature lady products?! That I can see more realistically. That could be possible, could be doable — and since they’re my employer, they can organise everything they need to with flights, accommodation, HR, campaign contracts, whatever — they can get all that done very easily already.

But no, I don’t really think that is ever realistically happening.

But would you LIKE it? Would you ENJOY being a face model for cosmetics and skincare? That’s the point of my question.

Ummm?! Okay?! I guess?! If there’s a glam team? If there’s professional photographers? I guess I would trust them to work their magic?! I don’t see it as a “difficult” job…? Is that what you’re asking?!

(Laughing) You don’t see it as a “difficult” job?

(Shaking head) You just have to rock up and listen to their instructions. How is that a difficult job to be a face model?!
