Uncle in New York

Husband: Who’s your Uncle in New York? Is this a political Uncle?! Does he have connections to the White House?! The Pentagon?! Does he know Rudy Guiliani? Nancy Pelosi?! What’s he doing in New York?! Is he a spy?! A Taiwanese spy?!?!! Or a political… whoever? Who is he?!!

Wifey: (Can’t stop laughing)

OH my god, no. This Uncle in New York is NOT political — not that I’m aware of. Okay. He’s not a SPY… unless he’s been hiding it really well?! (Puzzled)

No. I don’t think he’s a spy or connected with anything political. He was just a normal guy living in Chinatown, in New York. And now he’s retired. And he lives around… further out, but still technically New York.

Husband: Further out?

Wifey: I’m not going to name the exact area my Uncle lives in, on a public blog!

Husband: That makes it sound like he’s a SPY and you don’t want anyone to know where he is!

Wifey: Or, or — maybe I don’t even know. Maybe he’s moved around. Around different places in New York. It doesn’t matter where. Rent rises. He’s moving. And it doesn’t matter. He likes the city. Even in his retirement he likes the city. So if I’m ever there for anything — of course I’m going to see and catch up with my relative! We’re FAMILY.

Husband: Okay… is he married? Do you have cousins… from his lineage?

Wifey: No. He’s not married. He never had any kids. So as his niece, I guess… it’s nice for him to get a visit.

Husband: Oh… okay…

Wifey: CALM DOWN! (LOL)

Husband: But he’s not a spy and he’s not political…

Wifey: No. You know how harmless he is?! He took me to baseball. In New York. As a little girl. We went to watch baseball games. He’s that kind of Uncle.

Husband: LOL… so you know how to get to the baseball fields in New York, because your Uncle always takes you there, when you are in New York?

Wifey: Yes, pretty much. He likes to watch baseball. I will go with him to watch baseball games even though I have no idea what’s going on. But as a good niece, I will go.

Husband: So it’s not daunting for you to travel to New York. It’s actually a really familiar, childhood place… you’re comfortable in New York, and getting around within the city, even getting to a baseball field…

Wifey: (Chuckles) It’s relatively safe. From my perspective, yes.
