(She’s feeling bright and happy again… momentarily)…
Can you just explain it for me, again? I just want to be able to wrap my head around it…
Sure, dear… let me go google for a sec… oh yeah, I used the wrong word. It’s not called the “ovulation” phase, it’s called the “follicular” phase… oops!
I just think of it as the “ovulation” phase because it is the body prepping for ovulation. So it’s like, “ovulation” phase and “shedding” phase — shedding phase is luteal phase.
Does that make more sense? There is the first half of the month, prepping for ovulation, then the second half of the month, prepping for shedding (of the uterus lining, if there is no pregnancy)…
So in my mind, it’s like, “ovulation” (follicular) phase and “shedding” (luteal) phase. The actual ovulation is occurring in the middle of this cycle.
The hormones are fluctuating in their own cycles. You can google lots of graphs. Think of them as musical melodies that go up and down in their own loops.
Oestrogen is the happy, nice, feminine hormone. Oestrogen helps us to be “soft”… and “nice”…
Progesterone is more “sharp” (just my opinion) — it’s when a woman is like, “cut that shit out!” she can get to the point, she can navigate her surroundings and be like, “don’t mess with this bitch!”
I think, for me, personally, my levels were a bit out of whack during Melbourne years… it was… not the right balance… hence my analogy of Light/Dark. It was kind of opposite what it should’ve been.
Now, I think I am a lot more regular and generally “healthy” — so I think my phases of Light/Dark (Angel/Devil) are reflective of the textbook graphs of the hormone levels…
