How was work today, My Love?
Work was good today, Honey Bun.
I wore compression socks… I put my hair in plaits / braids… I had BB cream on my face…
Oh? I didn’t realise you had BB cream on.
Yes… sometimes I just put on some BB cream. Sometimes I go to work bare faced. It depends. If I am mostly back of house, I don’t bother putting makeup on. If I know I’ll be more customer facing, I do at least put BB cream… unless something else is going on and I really, really don’t feel like it. Usually on weekends where I know I am customer facing I’ll put on a full beat. Contour and blush, mascara… (usually)… haven’t been doing that much these days. It also depends on the weather.
It’s just too hot, these summer months here. I’ll do more of those things when it’s cooler. And even with compression socks — usually, I do wear them, but I hadn’t been when the weather was too hot. But then my legs are more tired if I don’t wear them. Today it didn’t feel that hot so I wore the compression socks, and then, by the end of the shift when I got home, I don’t feel as tired.
That’s good. Then wear the compression socks as much as possible.
Yes. And you know what? A song came on the radio!
Oh? Which song?
“The Tide is High” by Atomic Kitten — I just started smiling when I heard it because it reminds me of the early 2000s. It was my favourite song to sing on Sing Star. And I feel like, only a few mutual friends know that about me… (LOL)
(Chuckles)
I wonder if you are in a new group chat… I wonder if you are learning new things from re-acquainted old friends…
No, but… do you want me to be?
Well… I know some of them could give some useful advice and perspectives… if you wanted to discuss things with them. I feel like, you can trust them. But it’s up to you. And that’s just my opinion.
Advice about what exactly? Us? Or do you mean, like, politics?
Yeah, I mean politics. I don’t think we need advice from them about us. We’re good. But they’re good with knowledge about politics and things like that. I think you could at least bounce some ideas off of them. Especially if you are doing self-paced learning and reading on your own. It’s still good to have a “discussion board” — so what I mean is, since you’re not fully enrolling in those types of online courses. You’re not going to integrate that learning in your brain via those online student forums. So the best and other way to integrate that learning is to have those kinds of discussions with trusted friends. Friends who are already working in or have previously worked adjacent to politics and that sort of thing. I think it’ll be healthy.
Do you trust all of them?
Yes I do. I trust all of them.
Do you think… I should go visit any of them? Just to have a look around and learn some things?
No. I think they can go visit you. Or maybe there’s a zoom meeting. I don’t know. Zoom catch-ups? I really don’t know. I just think… some things are easier to explain “face to face” even if that is via video conferencing. You don’t have to text back and forth that much, just set some dates for regular catch-ups. That way, you have your team nearby and they have theirs. I am assuming. So if you have any “dicey” questions — politically — they can also brief with their own teams about how best to answer your questions.
Does that make sense? I hope so. Anyways.
I don’t think it’s even that serious… well… I’m just a random lady working in retail. (LOL) What do I know?! (shrugs shoulders)
For lunch, I am cooking salmon with rice, and adding some seaweed… and kimchi… and kewpie mayo… like a deconstructed sushi bowl. Yummy! I wish I had avocados… I need to add them to my next shopping trip!
