I think this was one of the most heartening aspects of the Eras Tour.

Surprise songs was also a really good strategy. And it keeps things interesting for Taylor herself. So she doesn’t get too bored of the “set” as it is…

In a stadium of 60,000 or even 80,000 or however many it was — the acoustic set was always the most intimate. (And I’m not the first person to say this! LOTS of media commentary has said this). I think Travis also said this?

You have that moment with Taylor… you become closer with her, as her fan, as her friend… you see a new side of her. Authentic Taylor… it’s very, very intimate… Other than the Swifties that started turning it into a “I can’t believe she did that without me” game — and it is just a game. The rest of the “sane Swifties” just appreciated the surprise songs for what they were.

The dramatics of the “I can’t believe she did that without me” was mostly a social media game of attention. (In my opinion). A trend for more content.

Real, genuine, Taylor Swift fans — are not about to huff and puff over her singing a song, where they weren’t there. They were SO HAPPY — I was so happy! — To even catch it on a grainy livestream on Tik Tok. To hear that side of Taylor… and then, the mash-ups… I didn’t follow as avidly by the time of the mash-ups. I feel like, that too, was for Taylor to not get bored herself… understandably… but I didn’t want to demand anything of her as an artist. I respected her to choose her songs, and give us what she felt in the moment.

I think… that’s most people… and they’re not going to hashtag #LetHerBeInTheMoment or whatever it is. Huffing and puffing… They’re just scrolling, and following… not reacting… appreciating the music for what it is.
