Friend 5: “Is he a good luck boyfriend?”
Me: “What?”
Friend 5: “You know how some guys, when you’re with them, they’re either going to bring you good luck or bad luck. Like when I was with (XXXXXXXX) it was very passionate, but he kept bringing me bad luck. My parents were right about him. It was a disaster. And now, I’m with (XXXXX) and everything in my career, it’s all getting better and better. So he’s a good luck boyfriend! He’s not dragging me down!”
(Hindsight — she is NOT with that same guy now… LOL… it was total B.S.)
Me: (Unsure)… “I guess I haven’t known him long enough to know if he’s bringing me good luck or bad luck…”
Friend 5: “What’s the rush?! You guys are moving too fast. Maybe he’s not even a boyfriend. You two are just friends with benefits.”
Me: MMmmmm… (I am too immature and inexperienced for this — hindsight)…
Friend 5: “Do you even know what you want?”
Me: “What do you mean?”
Friend 5: “Do you want marriage? Do you want kids? Do you want to pursue your career? What do YOU want?”
Me: “Oh my god, I don’t know… I, I guess I want marriage…? He doesn’t want kids…”
Friend 5: “HE doesn’t want kids?!?!!? Oh. FORGET ABOUT HIM.”
Me: “What?!”
Friend 5: “You’re a MOTHER. People don’t know this about you. You have such a nurturing nature. You’re going to be a great MUM. You totally suit being a mother! You can’t be with a guy who doesn’t want kids! You’re SO YOUNG. You’re going to meet a guy who wants kids. Forget about this one.”
Me: (Frozen…) (Numb)… I don’t know how to feel right now… “I think… I think… maybe you’re right…”
Friend 5: “The right guy for you is definitely out there. And he’s going to want kids. Because that’s what you want.”
